Our Curriculum

At Mother Kate’s Early Learning Centre our Educators provide a curriculum which encompasses all the interactions, experiences, routines and events, planned and unplanned, that occur in the children’s lives. Developing a meaningful curriculum involves interactive and inclusive decision making by children, families, educators and the wider communities.

Our curriculum is based on the Early Years Learning Framework. The Early Years Learning Framework describes the principles, practice and outcomes essential to support and enhance young children’s learning from birth to five years of age, as well as their transition to school.  The Framework has a strong emphasis on play-based learning as play is the best vehicle for young children’s learning providing the most appropriate stimulus for brain development. The Framework also recognises the importance of communication and language (including early literacy and numeracy) and social and emotional development.

We base our Kindergarten curriculum on the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guideline. The guideline is based on the Early Years Learning Framework and embraces the inclusive vision that ‘all children experience learning that is engaging and builds success for life’.  The guidelines provide specific advice to support Kindergarten Teachers to strengthen children’s sense of belonging, being and becoming. At Mother Kate’s Early Learning Centre Kindergarten your child will participate in our school readiness program which will assist them to get the best start as they transition into Prep.

The journey of each child’s individual development is based on the Learning Outcomes of Early Years Learning Framework and the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guideline. Development is documented utilising Celebration of Achievement Charts.

Children who participate in an approved Kindergarten program are better prepared for school. Mother Kate’s has received great feedback each year from schools on the children who have graduated from our centre.
